I visited here last year, during the summer. I loved the little town, it was so beautiful, and the people were so nice. It was here i met him. We met on the beach one night, walking our dogs. Im not sure what his name is.. but i never forgot about him. Im returning this year, most likely, in hopes of finding him again.

We really love our visit's to Westport/Grayland area. Our Daughter & family live there and will hopefully be coming for a visit approx. June 6th. or earlier. Graduation for our Grandson from high school, Grandaughter a bit earlier has her Ballet Performance in May...hope to make both. Our stays with Kay Walsh when she managed the Walsh Motel have been filled with great memories as well. Hated losing our Pottery connection and the little Red School House gift shop. Can't wait to return soon

Visited on a fishing trip on the ocean with some friends. I remembered a time when I had a very loving relationship with a woman who was from here. Her parents owned the hotel, a rental shop, and an ice cream parlor here. She was what I had thought was a woman I had dreamed of. Somehow we never finished what we started, our dreams were shattered because of the stupid mistakes I made. I hope she is having a better life now, I hope someday I can say I am sorry to her.

Wow! What a nice site! Although I graduated from Ocosta WAY BACK in 1966, I still feel the draw of the sound of the ocean at night, big storms with the waves pounding, GH Buoy going: 'BEEEEYOOOOOOMMMP' throughout the night, guiding boats & ships into Grays Harbor. When I graduated I couldn't wait to get out of that small town and now I can't wait to retire and move back! Miss all you good folks! If you remember me, please send off an email & let me know how you are! lyndamoore1@comcast.net

Like so many others who have signed in to your Guestbook, I grew up in Westport. Some of my best memories are of going clam digging (before there were licenses)with the whole family, going to the Grayland Theater every Sunday for the Sunday family night, working on the boats every summer and just listening to the fog horn at night. Our family made their living on that beautiful ocean and we have lost some on it. But that place brings back the simple times when you walked the 2 miles to the dock before the fleet came in, so you could clean fish for a quarter. Bless this beautiful little town, don't change too much.

I spent a year in Westport at the old Coast Guard Base, which is now the Maritime Musuem. I was There when the CoastGuardsmen were lost. We found the 36' Life boat with no one aboard. Visited there 53 years later, didn't recongized the town. As soon as I find my pictures of that time I will send them. Thanks Westport for the memories.

Hi, I found your website quite by accident and I was very impressed to say the least. I am passing this on to my brother as he is the 'historian' in our family. My family came to the coast sometime in the 1920's. George Stalding was with the police department in Aberdeen and was also on the city council. My great aunt and uncle (Amelia and Ward Stalding) once owned the Grayland grocery store and the post office. My Auntie Amelia was the postmaster for many years. Our family owned the two houses next to the post office (on the north side). Dad (Eugene K. Stalding) went to school right across the street which I understand is the community center now. My grandparents(Victer and Edith Stalding)had a house north of there with large glass greenhouses where he grew lily bulbs and daffodils.Grandma worked in a cannery in Westport. My aunt Yvonne was once married to Douglas Stegmiller of Tokeland/North Cove area. I occassionally visited them at the beach when I was very young. Of course my mom and dad left the beach sometime aroun 1949 I think and now reside in Longview,WA. They are in their 80's. They sold their last house that was next to the old post office many years ago so we havent been back to Grayland. Just thought I would pass on these memories for thought and comments from anyone that might have any knowledge about my family. If you do, please email me at: bjstalding@netzero.net. Thank you for your time.

Hello everyone that remembers me in westport. I lived in Westport about 8 or 9 yrs I worked at the old Anthonys restraunt, b&c pizza, new hope cafe, teds red apple and the local tavern in my time there. I went to Twin Harbors Babtist Church, played softball in Aberdeen on the Teds team and also did a year of Girl Scouts with my daughter katies troop. I miss the people there but not the rain although we could use a little here in cali. I miss the closeness of the town and how we all pull together in a crises. People arent as friendly here. My family is from Westport and Grays Harbor - my parents and my older sister went to Ocosta HS. My grandfather, Ray Webb owned and operated the first airport in Westport. My dad and mom, Harry and Dolores Webb owned the Sea Chest Cafe and Hotel as well as the Knotty Pine and Pine Tree Taverns years ago. It's fun to visit the Westport site and see how the town is doing today. Some of my dad's photos are in the Maritime Museum. Look for the photo of the Lipari washed ashore with three kids in front of it. They are my older sister, Susan, my brother Tony and I.

I just wanted people to know that I discovered Westport about 3yrs ago. I wanted to try crabbing. The first day I was there I was hooked. I love to crab. I know I can go many other places to crab, but I haven't. Westport is the most beautiful town I have ever seen (I've been to a lot of towns). What intrigued me the most about Westport is the people. The people there are so kind, they are willing to help you and give advice without you even asking. I feel a sense of security in that town. When I go camping at Twin Harbors and go crabbing down on the docks I feel really safe and relaxed. I recommend Westport to everyone I know. Being able to walk out your front door, leave your doors unlocked, walk down the street and feel safe. These are just a few of the many things you should be proud of Westport. America would be alot safer if we had more towns like yours. I hope and pray that one day I will be able to be one of those outstanding citizens you have in that town. I no longer go anywhere else for vacation. I found my vacation spot. Thank you Westport. To me you are the greatest town in Washington. Keep it up and God bless all of you.

We love Westport. We come every year aroung the 4th of July. The people are wonderful, friendly, and helpful. We love to crab off the docks and find shells on the beach. All untounched and natural. We were very sad to see the growth of the condos. We like the small town atmosphere and things inexpesive so a family of 6 can afford to come and stay. Please don't ruin your natural beauty just for the sake of money. You don't want to turn you town into another Ocean Shores. We used to stay there many years ago now we don't even go there. There is nothing there. You find nothing there. We are hoping to be able to come more often to Westport. Once a year for a week is never enough time. We love Westport.

Me and my family come camping there twice a year, during the summer months. We never run out of things to do and see. We camp at Grayland State park and love the fact that were not far from a casino, numerous attractions, and our favorite the two golf courses in Raymond and Cosmopolis. Also I was wondering if you could put picture updates on the New Half Moon Bay Golf Course they are constructing, or possibly a golf and resort construction cam. Just a thought. See you in 3 weeks for another great adventure and relaxing vacation.

Westport is the best beach to visit if you come to Washington to see any beaches. In my opinion they have the best attractions in the Pacific Northwest. Been to Long Beach, Washington and was not impressed with any of the atractions there. There was very little that kids could do, and don't worry about combing the beaches for any kind of seashells because there aren't any. The only shell you will find are broken up crab shell and possibly some pieces of a few oyster shells. So if you want to find some sea shells Westport is far the best beach to go and visit.

We began staying at Grayland State Park many years ago. We love the beach. With all the families that camp now, we were having to book months in advance to get in. We were missing the spur of the moment beach runs, so we decided to find a small home in Grayland. Now our families can come camp with us and never need a reservation to enjoy the great beach.

I met a really great guy in Westport and fell in love. I don't know what it is about this place but it just seems right! It feels like a second home for me and I love coming here. I actually considered moving here because I love it so much! I hadn't never even heard of Westport until a friend asked me to go with her to visit a guy she liked that lives here and now almost a year later they have a house together her and they are so in love and are getting married eventually. As for the guy I met and fell in love with here... well I know the town is something i'll always love! I have many fond memories of Westport. I grew up coming there every summer for a week or more. We always stayed at Twin Harbors State Park, a great spot by the way! I have memories of sleeping in a tent and hearing the fog horn blow on some mornings, and coming up over the crest of the sand dunes on the nature trail and being awed by the magificence of the ocean. It is beautiful. My parents used to take us deep sea fishing on a boat called 'The Ms. Magoo' Wonderful memories. My husband and I honeymooned there a few years ago. Someday I hope to be able to take my daughter there so she can experience what I did. Thank you!

My mom and I went for a few days to Westport (recently, the 23-26) and we had fun! We went to Anthony's, Barabara's, The Diner, Las Maracas, and Original House of Pizza (YUM!!). We bought a pink elephant kite and flew it down on the beach. The Chateau was a nice hotel although the walking down to the beach killed my legs.

We went to a county fair in Willapa Valley but didn't stay long because it was so hot. I had fun in the hotel rooms working on a few pages of my scrapbook that I have just recently started.

We have always enjoyed Westport ever since some friends turned us on to the area about nine years ago. The people are great, we love the fact that we can walk the docks, hit the beach for some swimming or just leave the kids at home for some time together. Sourdough Lils was always our favorite place to eat, really wish they would re-open, may not have been the fanciest place but was always friendly and some of the best food around. Brady\'s is also a mandatory stop going in and out. One of the best little pllaces around.

The first fifteen years of my life I was raised by the ocean. The smell of the sea & the greeting of the morning fog will forever remain within my spirit. But fate has a way to derail your direction in life. I do manage to make my yearly trek to Westport for deep sea fishing, crabbing, & visiting with some locals I made friends with. Sitting on the West jetty watching the sun drop in the evenings is truly peaceful. I envy all who live in the Westport area.

We spent New Year's weekend in one of the very nice Fantasy Cabins with a terrific ocean view. We were given some great coupons, among them was the Tokeland Casino and George's Restaurant. Our friends and us had the best time! People at the Casino were very friendly and fun; the food was great and inexpensive. Then there was George's... what a fine place to dine. The new owner is a fabulous chef and her daughters are wonderful waitstaff. My only regret: we should have asked the owner to come out of the kitchen so we could congratulate her in person. We'll be back! Thanks!

I went to Westport long-time-ago when we use to go every year for vacation. I was a little poop back then. This past year I went back and all the old memories came back. I really had a blast back then and tell the truth nothings really changed. It looks the same, sounds the same, and even smells the same. I just Love Westport. It's my kind of town, 'A Fishing Town.' I'm just waiting to go back. Thanks for all the memories, because that's what life is about.

Westport & Grayland are amazing places to visit. Thanks to our dear friend, William Hunter, we have had the privilege of an intimate look at these 2 areas. Many hours have been spent fishing with the cool breeze on our faces in the mornings. I remember when the beach was covered with plumbing pipes after a storm and the roads just seemed to drop off. But I also remember how Bill would smile every time he'd catch a fish. These 2 small fishing towns are now a permanent part of all of our lives and always will be thanks to him.

Our great-grandfather, William W. Hunter, has been taking us to Westport 4 times a year since we were born. He has turned Westport into a family tradition for our entire extended families. He passed away last year, but his life and adventures in Westport, will continue to live through all of us. He taught us how, when, & where to fish. He showed us how to dig shrimp and clams. And how to catch crabs in the crab pots. His legacy with Westport lives on!

We have had many happy family get togethers in Westport over the past twenty years. We enjoy staying at either the Harbor Resort or the Islander. Our favorite activity is crabbing and claming. This year we all learned how to razor clam. It was awesome.
The family has voted to spend our Thanksgiving in Westport, this time sharing the tradition with their (our now grown children)spouses.

I was in Westport last week and did some fishing with Don, from 'Deep Sea Charters'. I would first like to admit that this is my first time seeing the ocean. And I can happily state that Westport, and moreover, the 'Mariner' was a great place to see it from. I found Westport to be a beautiful little town, and I would strongly recommend anyone to visit and charter a fishing trip with Don and Derek of the 'Mariner'! These two men were fantastic hosts, and even in the face of an on-board emergency, they handled themselves and the boat as perfectly as possible. P.S. - Kudos to the U.S. Coast Guard

In the early '60's, I took my two teenage sons to Westport several years in a row. We went out on charter boats and usually one, sometimes two of us would catch at least one salmon or a lingcod. These years are most memorable to me because my older son has died. My reason for thinking favorably about Westport. Thank you. Robert
